Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are not required and walk-ins are always welcome. It is recommended that you call ahead if you have a group (10 or more people). It is also recommended that you call or check out our Facebook page prior on days where it is/has been very rainy or a little on the chilly side to ensure that we are open.

How does the trip work?

The process is so easy – just park at one of our two locations, get checked in and take our shuttle to the starting point. You can take your time floating down the river, and your car will be waiting for you at the end of your trip. (yes, we rock)

How long is the trip?

Trip times vary based on water level and weather conditions. Check out our Facebook Page for daily updates on current trip times.

What do I get for the price?

  • A super deluxe tube with a backrest, cup holder, covered bottom and the ability to hook to your friends
  • A life jacket
  • Free parking and a shuttle ride
  • A great experience

What is your weather policy?

We are open rain or shine.  If it starts raining during your trip, continue down the river. If it starts thundering or lightening, pull over to the bank and stay in your tube. Generally storms pass through the mountains quickly. Once the thunder/lightening stops, continue your trip. We always post weather updates on our Facebook page, so check often.

Are there any discounts for groups?

Groups of 10 or more receive a $5 per person discount. Call us ahead of time to arrange special discounts for large groups (churches, scouts, schools, corporate, etc.).

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed (sorry!).

Where do we check in?

You check in at one of our two location (1648 Brevard Rd, Asheville, NC or 608 Riverside Dr, Asheville, NC). Free parking is available. We will shuttle you upstream 4 miles to the starting point. You will then take a leisurely, lazy float trip downstream back to our location on the tube of your choice.

Do you have lockers?

No.  Your car is your locker.  We will keep your keys for you in a safe, dry, and secure place so that the river doesn’t swallow them.

What should I wear?

You should wear your bathing suit or shorts. Footwear is recommended (flip flops, sandals, old sneakers, etc.) You will be on the water for two or more hours, so we also recommend that you bring sunscreen and something to drink.

Are life jackets required?

Life Jackets are required for tubers who are 13 years old and younger. It’s optional if your 14 and up, but we highly recommend wearing one.

What not to bring?

Do not take anything on the river that you do not wish to lose or cannot get wet. If you drop it in the river, it’s most likely gone forever. This includes cell phones, electronics, jewelry, wallets, keys, etc. We are not responsible for any items lost or damaged that you bring on the river. You may lock personal belongings in your car, and we will keep your keys securely for you while you are on the river.

Can I bring a cooler?

Yes. Coolers are welcome. Bring your own cooler filled with beverages, snacks, etc. Cooler Carriers are available for $5. Glass containers are strictly prohibited.

Littering is illegal. We ask that you please hold on to your empty cans and other trash and return it to the outpost. We have trash cans and recycling containers at our outpost where you may dispose of garbage properly when you return.

How deep is the water?

The water is about waist deep in most places (perfect for tubing).

Is the water cold?

No! The French Broad River is old and wide and gets a lot of sunlight. Average temps in the summer can reach 75 degrees or more (nice).

Will I get wet?

Yes, you will get wet but not soaked (unless you want to – it feels great on a hot day!).

Will I see wildlife?

Yes! and they will see you (no scary critters, though).

Our tubes come in small, medium and large, and they all have back rests and covered bottoms.
